In a letter to the editor July 30 ("Dog died in muddle over clinic"), an Aiken resident described his frustrating, worthless trip to an animal emergency care facility in Augusta. The place, advertised as being open, was closed when he got there and his pet died on the way back to Aiken.
I'm no longer a pet owner, but glancing through the Yellow Pages, I see quite a few veterinarians in Aiken. It would seem they could take turns being on weekend call, showing their community spirit. Wouldn't that be great?
