Greenbrier receiver out with hand injury
The most highly recruited player in Columbia County will be sidelined for up to eight weeks after breaking two bones in his hand.
Greenbrier receiver Eugene Rogers broke the metacarpal bone on his ring finger and the knuckle of his middle finger on his right hand during practice Wednesday.
Rogers found out about the break after visiting the doctor on Thursday. Doctors told Rogers he might be able to return as soon as four weeks, but it could be closer to eight.
"I'm not upset," said Rogers, who was still selected as a team captain Thursday afternoon. "I am going to stay focused. I can ride the stationary bike every day during practice and stay ready. I'll be back. There's no doubt about that."

New Jersey deals Kittles to Clippers
In Newark, N.J., Kerry Kittles was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for a future second-round draft pick, breaking up a successful backcourt pairing with All-Star Jason Kidd.
Kittles became the second starter to leave the Nets this month. All-Star forward Kenyon Martin was sent to the Denver Nuggets for three future first-round draft choices two weeks ago.
To try and fill the void left by Kittles, who spent eight years with the Nets, the club signed free-agent guards Jacque Vaughn and Rodney Buford.
Peeler, who led the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage last season as a backup with Sacramento, declined to exercise his contract option with the Kings and became a free agent July 1.
