  • Barbara Meeks has been named vice president of Pediatric Patient Care Services for MCG Health Inc. She will be responsible for overseeing pediatric perioperative services, rehabilitation services and pediatric respiratory care services. Ms. Meeks was previously administrative director of Pediatric Service at MCG Childrenís Medical Center. An employee since 1989, she has nearly 25 years of health-care experience.
  • Susan Young has been elected to banking officer and office manager by the board of directors of Georgia Bank & Trust Co. Ms. Young joined the bank in 1998 and has held various positions, including administrative assistant to the group vice president and senior lending officer. Ms. Young has more than 13 years of banking and finance experience and is pursuing a bachelorís degree in business administration at Augusta State University.
  • Herbert F. Dickson III has been elected to the bank as vice president-marketing director. Mr. Dickson has more than seven years of financial services marketing experience and will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of marketing strategies for the bank. He was previously director of marketing for Macon Bank in Franklin, N.C. Mr. Dickson earned a bachelorís degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina.

  • James Dee has joined Augusta Computer Group as sales manager. Mr. Dee was previously employed by Spark Technology, where he worked in the sales and marketing departments. His responsibilities will be helping current and new customers with their computer needs.
  • Corina J. Bussey has been promoted to vice president of delivery for the South Region of Ajilon Consulting in Towson, Md. She has been in the information technology industry for 20 years and earned her bachelorís of science degree in business administration from Brenau University.
  • Raymond R. Loyal III has joined Satellite Logistics Group in Houston as national sales director. He was previously chief operator officer of Aspromonte Coors Distributing Co.
  • Chris Ward has been promoted to store manager for the Computer Exchange store in North Augusta, opening Aug. 6.
  • Angie Barton recently became a consultant for Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company in Alexandria, Minn.

  • The chapter has been awarded an Affiliate Excellence Award during the J. Shipman Award banquet at the 2004 International Supply Management Conference in Philadelphia for demonstrating excellence in promoting education and advancement in the procurement and supply management field.

  • Lee Banks, of Keystone Homes, attended the How to Negotiate with Vendors and Suppliers seminar this month.
  • The Augusta c hapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association was recognized as the associationís District 3 Chapter of the Year in June at the Southern Region convention. The chapter and its contractor members are partners with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

  • Blanchard & Calhoun agent Sam Roney, of the South Augusta office, has earned his E-Pro d esignation, marking his proficiency in marketing over the Internet. He also completed a certified residential specialist course called Creating Wealth through Residential Real Estate Investments at the Georgia Association of Realtors convention in Charleston, S.C.

  • Aiken Motorcycle Sales has donated a Kawasaki 1100 STX DI watercraft to the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department. It will be used by rescue personnel to reach distressed swimmers and assist in other waterway emergencies.
  • Muns Welding and Mechanical Inc. won the Georgia Department of Laborís Award of Excellence in June for exceptional workplace safety in 2003.
  • Georgia-Carolina Bancshares Inc., the holding company for First Bank of Georgia, was ranked No. 18 in the nation among all banks and thrifts with total assets between $100 million to $1 billion by the ABA Banking Journal. The inclusion was in a July article, Hot Shots, Top Performing Community Banks by ROE, Who They Are and How They Do It
  • MAU Inc. has begun providing free employment assistance services to homeless families through the nonprofit Interfaith Hospitality Network of Augusta. MAU employees provide counseling on job-skill assessments, rÈsumÈ writing and interview preparation.
