Pollack, Davis unanimous choices on the preseason All-SEC team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Auburn tailback Carnell Williams, Tennessee punter Dustin Colquitt and Georgia defenders Thomas Davis and David Pollack were unanimous choices on the preseason All-Southeastern Conference team picked by league coaches.

Louisian State led all schools with nine first-team picks and four more making the second or third teams on the squad, which was released by the SEC on Thursday. It marked the first time the SEC coaches have made preseason all-conference picks.

Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi each had 10 players selected.

Williams was the only unanimous first-team selection on offense and was also chosen on every ballot of the All-SEC team selected by coaches at the end of last season.

Pollack, a second-team Associated Press All-American at defensive end, was named SEC Player of the Year by the league's coaches in 2002.

Davis led the SEC with 138 tackles last season and was a first-team All-SEC choice by AP and a second-teamer by the coaches.

Colquitt, a first-team All-American, was a unanimous first-team All-SEC selection by the league's coaches last season.

Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
