Area NFL players make appearance

Former Augusta high school rivals and current Tennessee Titans teammates Ben Troupe and Brandon Lynch, along with Jacksonville Jaguars safety Deon Grant, will appear tonight at the White Linen Party at 9 at the Marbury Center, 1257 Broad St.

Troupe, a standout tight end at Butler High School and the University of Florida, was the first draft pick by the Titans, 40th overall.

Lynch, a strong safety from Hephzibah High and Middle Tennessee State, signed with the Titans as a rookie free agent.

Grant, who won a state championship at Josey High, started three seasons for the Carolina Panthers and played in last season's Super Bowl.

The players are honored guests at the White Dinner, which raises money for the Knowledge is Key Foundation - a mentoring program for inner city young men.

On Saturday, Grant, Troupe and Lynch will be speaking with youngsters and signing autographs at 10:30 a.m. at Omni Health and Fitness, 3637 Walton Way Extended.

Tickets are $15 at the door.
