Where are the real conservatives?

Over the past year, I have been closely monitoring election politics and have found that very few real conservatives exist any longer.

I listen to commentators such as Ann Coulter, and I can't help but wonder what kind of a fascist ideologue reared her. Ms. Coulter has stated on many occasions that anyone who does not agree with her political views is a traitor. I think that anyone with a brain can see how childish she is. She heralds Ronald Reagan as an example of a great Republican president, and he was, but she then uses this to put down Democrats and Independents. She has apparently forgotten President Nixon, a man who was forced to resign because he tried to usurp democracy.

Real conservatives, such as Bob Dole and John McCain, understand that a dissenting opinion doesn't make you "evil." These men also understand, for instance, that French leaders may be idiots, but that does not reflect the views of the entire nation of France; let's not forget the "Notre President est un Idiot" T-shirts. Our country needs people with strong views, not people who don't understand one of the very things our country was founded on: compromise.
