Kornegay named women's golf assistant

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Marci Kornegay was named assistant women's golf coach at South Carolina on Tuesday.

Kornegay had been an assistant for the men's and women's golf teams at Winthrop since January 2002. She has experience at the Southeastern Conference level, playing golf at Mississippi from 1997-2001 and serving as an LSU assistant before taking the job at Winthrop.

"Marci has great experience and we are happy to have her at South Carolina," South Carolina women's coach Kristi Coggins said. "She has a passion for coaching and will be an excellent role model for our student-athletes."
