Mrs. Celeste royal (AIKEN, S.C.)



AIKEN, S.C.- Mrs. Celeste Rose Sears Royal, 84, a fifty-five resident of Aiken, died June 26, 2004 at Southeastern Regional Hospital in Lumberton, N.C., following a long illness. Mrs. Royal, was the wife of the late Dr. Louis B. Royal, Jr., formerly of Burke Co., Georgia, and the daughter of the late William T. Sears and Naomi M. Hudgens (Sears) of Troy, South Carolina. Born in Westminster, S.C., on November 2, 1919, Mrs. Royal was the 7th generation decedent of Ezekiel Calhoun, who was the brother of South Carolina's most noteworthy statesman, John C. Calhoun. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Henry Middleton Chapter. Survivors include daughter, Gloria Royal Glezen of Lumberton, N.C.; son, Andy Louis Royal of Lumberton, N.C.; four grandchildren, Saundra Celeste Glezen, Michelle Leigh Glezen both of Raleigh, N.C.; Angela Kelly (Rodgers) Glezen of Ephrata, Pa. , and Sean Brittany Ward of Lumberton, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Alexis Ward and Andrew Paul Ward both of Lumberton, N.C.; two sisters, Mae Young of Greenwood, S.C., and Florence Walker of Bradley, S.C. Friends will be received at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, SC on Monday, June 28, 2004 between the hours of 11 a.m. and Noon.
