FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas and Texas will play on national television on Sept. 11 when the football teams meet at 7:45 p.m. at Razorback Stadium.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the former Southwest Conference rivals' Big Shootout in 1969, when No. 1 Texas beat No. 2 Arkansas, 15-14 to win the national championship.
The Sept. 11 game will be on ESPN as the second half of a doubleheader following Georgia at South Carolina.
This will be the first Arkansas and Texas game in Fayetteville since 1989. The Razorbacks left the SWC for the Southeastern Conference in 1991.
The schools have played twice since Arkansas left the SWC, with Arkansas winning both games - 27-6 in the 2000 Cotton Bowl and 38-28 last year in Austin, Texas.
