Mr. Samuel T. Rogers (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, June 15, 2004 at Kentwood Nursing Home, Mr. Samuel Thomas Rogers, husband of Susan Garrison Rogers of Augusta. Other family members include his daughter, Teresa Rogers Hardy and husband Phil of Burlington, N.C.; Son, Wesley Thomas Rogers and wife, Tracy, of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren, Houston Chandler Breedlove, Hayden Parker Breedlove, Taylor Lauren Rogers; step-grandchildren, Spencer Phillip Hardy, Mitchell Brennan Hardy and constant companion, Sassy. Mr. Rogers was a native of Charleston, S.C. but was raised in Carlton, Ga. He has lived in Augusta for the last 36 years. He retired as a school administrator with the Richmond County Board of Education after 23 years of service. His career included being principal at Southside Elementary, Murphy Middle School, and Windsor Spring Elementary School. He also served as Director of Purchasing and Inventory Control. He taught at Burke County High School. He was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was past president of the Richmond County Association of Educators. He was a member of the Richmond County Principals Association and a former member of the American Business Clubs and the Augusta Flying Club. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Boyd Lien officiating. Entombment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 at Thomas Poteet and Son.
