ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Tight end Mikhael Ricks was released Friday by the Detroit Lions after two years with the team.
Last season, Ricks finished second on the team with 434 yards receiving yards on 37 receptions.
The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Ricks signed with the Lions in 2002.
He was drafted by San Diego out of Stephen F. Austin in the second round of the 1998 draft and spent two seasons with the Chargers before being released in 2000.
He played with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2000 and 2001.
In his six-year career, Ricks has 153 receptions for 1,982 yards and eight touchdowns.
