Mr. Lionel Scott, Jr. (RUTHERFORDTON, N.C.)



RUTHERFORDTON, N.C.- Mr. Lionel Edward "Ed" Scott, Jr., 65, went peacefully to be with his Lord on June 9, 2004. Mr. Scott was born in Terre Haute, Ind., July 27, 1938. He was an Educator with the Richmond County Georgia School System for 38 years, a former National Guardsman, and of the Methodist faith. He received his Ph.D. in Human Relations from Buxton University. He was a member of the Optimist Club in Augusta, Ga., served for two years as Distinguished Lieutenant Governor State of Georgia Optimist Club and served a year as Governor, State of Georgia Optimist Club. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Crowe's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Swink. Visitation will be at Crowe's Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Marcella Gibson Scott of the home; sons, Russell Scott of Lincolnton, Ga., Kevin Scott of Freeport, Fla.; daughters, Michelle Steiner of Mobile, Ala., Kelly Pa rtin of Tampa, Fla.; Brother, Fred Scott of Kennesaw, Ga., sisters, Debra Lynn Broski of Aiken, S.C., Patricia Huey of North Augusta, S.C.; grandchildren, Amanda Scott, Rusty Scott, Windy Steiner, Lauren Steiner, Lee Steiner, Savannah Steiner, Gavin Scott, Koty Scott, Sawyer Scott, Kristen Partin, Trey Partin and Daniel Partin. He was preceded in death by father, Lionel Edward Scott, Sr.; mother, Dorothy Coleman Scott and infant son, Richard Edward Scott. Memorials may be made to the Optimist Club.
