STORRS, Conn. -- Connecticut center Josh Boone will have surgery Friday to repair torn cartilage in his left knee.
The 6-foot-10 Boone was injured earlier this week when he slipped on a floor and twisted his knee, team spokesman Kyle Muncy said.
Boone started all but one game last season for the NCAA champions, sharing the post with All-American Emeka Okafor. Boone, who will be a sophomore next season, had 63 blocked shots and averaged 5.8 rebounds and 5.9 points.
Team doctors expect Boone to recover and be ready for a Big East all-star tour of China in mid-July.
