Fishing tournament news

American Bass Anglers

Billed as the largest tournament trail for weekend anglers, it's open to men, women and youths (with parental consent) 16 years of age and older. No boat is required, but if you enter as a boater, you will be guaranteed its use even if there are no non-boaters in the field. Entry fee is $55 for one-day tournaments. Payment at the ramp will result in a $5 penalty unless your are signing up as a new member, renewing membership or are a life member. No guides or professional bass anglers are allowed. Please note: To fish the District 2 day tournament in July, you must have competed in at least four of the one-day tournaments. More information from ABADistrict 26 Director Milton C. Dorn Fishing & Boating Complex

Sponsored by the Lincolnton-Lincoln County and McCormick chambers of commerce, registration begins at the ramps at 5 a.m., the tournament field leaves at safe light and weighs in at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $70 per team with an optional $10 for big fish pot. 100 percent payback after expenses. First place 50 percent, second place 30 percent and third place 20 percent. Big fish pot: 60 percent for first place, 40 percent for second place. Next tournament: June 19 on Lake Wateree out of Clearwater Cove Marina. A "Classic" will be held Oct. 15-17 at a site to be announced. Entry fee is $22 per boat, with $2 going toward the year-end Classic payback. Hours are 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Five-fish limit per team or individual. Payback is based on number of boats entered each week. The Summer Saturday Night Classic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 5 p.m. to midnight and anglers must have fished a minimum two regular season tournaments to qualify, or pay $100 entry fee. Those who have fished a minimum of two tourneys will pay an entry fee of $55, including the big fish pot.
