OAKLAND, Calif. -- White Sox right fielder Magglio Ordonez missed his seventh straight game Wednesday with a strained left calf and probably will go on the disabled list later this week.
Ordonez left during Chicago's 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Oakland Athletics to fly to Los Angeles, where he will be examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum. He was to return to Chicago later Wednesday for more tests.
An MRI exam taken last Friday showed no structural damage. Still, Ordonez might need surgery, which would sideline him for four-to-seven weeks.
"He's not doing any better, in fact he's regressing," trainer Herm Schneider said. "He can't run. He went out looking for a miracle today and tried to run, but it hurt him. ... We don't know what it is. It could involve scope surgery or it could just involve rest."
A decision should come by Friday, Schneider said.
A four-time All-Star, Ordonez is batting .311 with eight homers and 34 RBIs in 42 games.
