COOL SUMMER GIGS

Got anything to do now that school is coming to a close? Is Mom nagging you to get off your duff and get a job? Well, before you default to the nearest greasy spoon, try thinking a bit differently. It's summer, so get outside and try working as a camp counselor or a rock-climbing assistant. In some places you can sign on as an archery instructor or volunteer for summer music festivals. For ideas about what's out there, search for "cool summer jobs" on any search engine and marvel at the variety.

THREE MUSICAL MUSKETEERS

Brothers Henry, JoJo and Ringo Garza make up the Latino rock group Los Lonely Boys. It's hard not to notice the influence Carlos Santana has had on guitar player Henry. He dominates most of the self-titled debut with his endearing guitar solos, which give the album its flavor, but is most noticeable on Senorita and Crazy Dream. Though the album slows down in the middle, things pick up by Onda, an eight-minute showcase of the brothers' talents, which is slightly reminiscent of old Allman Brothers Band jams.

FORMAL AND FUNKY ENSEMBLES

This spring season there are tons of different looks to experiment with. Contrasting looks are in, so mix casual elements in an outfit with elegant accessories for a great look. Try a flowing skirt or dress made of light material with big and bright floral prints. Pair it with multiple strings of oversized pearls as a necklace or a bracelet to change the appearance of typically formal jewelry. Chanel's tweed jacket is making a big comeback this season. Pick up a less expensive version of it at any number of stores, and try dressing it down with a fun side ponytail, jeans and sandals.
