FORT BENNING, Ga. -- Jason Parker earned a spot on his second straight Olympic team, and Matt Emmons, Sarah Blakeslee and Morgan Hicks each qualified for their first at the U.S. shooting trials on Sunday.
Parker, the world record holder in men's air rifle, missed a medal by less than a point at the Sydney Games in 2000. Emmons, from Browns Mills, N.J., finished second to Parker, of Omaha, Neb., at the trials.
Blakeslee, from Vancouver, Wash., finished first in the women's three-position rifle competition, and Hicks, from Roy, Wash., took the second spot. In three-position, shots are fired while prone, standing and kneeling.
The U.S. Olympic trials in pistol, running target and other rifle events will be held at Fort Benning this week. The U.S. team earned 25 qualification spots for the various shooting events at the Athens Olympics. The shotgun team was determined at a qualifying event in March.
