Mrs. Hortense Prophit (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga.-Mrs. Hortense Callahan Prophit, 87, of River Ridge Ct., Augusta, beloved wife of the late Mr. Alton C. Prophit, entered into rest on Sunday, May 23, 2004 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Peter Letchford and Dr. John W. P. Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Patty Lillis of Augusta, Ga. and Dr. Penny Prophit of Scotland. Mrs. Prophit was preceded in death by her brother, the late Felton L. Callahan. A native of Arcadia, La., Mrs. Prophit was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was the first woman to Graduate from Louisiana Tech University in 1936, with a Bachelors Degree in Commerce. Active pallbearers will be Wesley Latch, Walter Wilson, Mike Nelson, Mike Stewart, Joe Perrin and Willie Latch.
