KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- A passenger in a sport utility vehicle was killed Monday by a rock dropped from a highway overpass, authorities said.
The rock, the size of a bowling ball, crashed through the windshield around 1:45 a.m. on Interstate 75, WVLT-TV reported.
Police searched for witnesses.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
In 1995, a driver was seriously injured when a man dropped a tombstone from an I-75 overpass about 40 miles south of Knoxville. The man was sentenced to three years in prison.
