  • TODAY: Savannah River Rifle & Pistol Club will holds its second annual Open House and Fun Shoot at its outdoor range in South Carolina. Call 803-593-4524 or go to www.srrpclub.com for directions and details.
  • TUESDAY: A program on camping and hiking opportunities at Clarks Hill Lake will be presented during the Sierra Club's monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, Walton Way Extension, Augusta. The public is welcome. Call 863-2324 for more information.
  • SATURDAY: Cookin for Kids, featuring wild game and fish competition, barbecue, live snake shows by Okefenokee Joe, music from the Toasters, games and family fun, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Daniel Field Airport in Augusta. Proceeds benefit the Shelter & Advocacy Center for Abused Children and Child Enrichment, Inc. Admission is $5 and $3 for children 3-12.
  • SATURDAY: The Carolina Star Fun Shoot will be held at Carolina Star Ranges, Windsor, S.C., with deer and hog targets, a 500-yard "dinger plate" shoot and other events. Registration is $25 per team with teams ranging from three to seven shooters. Contact the range for details.
  • SATURDAY: Elliott Wildlife Center's annual Outdoor Festival and JAKES Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield, Ga. Events include fishing, shooting, boat rides, displays, ecology lessons and other events for the entire family. Call Georgia DNR, 770-784-3059 for more details.
  • THURSDAY, MAY 27: A Wild Turkey Woodlands Field Day will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hanging Rocks Plantation, Millen, Ga., with seminars on habitat management, food and other events. Sporting clays shooting also is available. Cost is $15. Call 803-637-3106, ext. 3073 to register.
