Baseball

  • Georgia USSSA Fastball Tournament will be held June 12 at Sweetwater Park. Entry fee is $200 with a one-time $30 USSSA team sanction fee. For more information, call Bob Howard at 595-8136 or 595-2152.

  • USSSA Firecracker Classic will be held July 10-11 at Diamond Lakes Park. Age divisions are 14 and under, 13 and under, 12 and under, 11 and under, and 10 and under.   • Golf

  • The Family Y and The First Tee will hold a Par Fitness Youth Golf Program for six Saturdays, starting May 26-June 26. The program runs from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Fees are $39 for Family Y members; $59 for non-members. For more information, call Kenya Barry at 733-1030.
  • The First Bank Chamber Golf Classic will be held Monday at The River Golf Club. The event has been called the "networking event of the year" and will be in the Lauderdale format. For more information, call Janna Crane at 821-1306.
  • The Hephzibah High School Fifth Annual Pigskin Classic will be held Saturday, June 5 at 9 a.m. at Applewood Golf Course. Cost is $55 per person, and lunch will be provided. Mulligans will be on sale, 2 on each side of play, with a maximum of 4 per person to be used at any time. All proceeds will benefit the Hephzibah High football team.   • Applications are being accepted for the David Usry Junior Golf Academy summer camps at the North Augusta Country Club. The camp offers a series of three-day camps and is open to all youth ages 6-16. The dates for the camps are June 1-3, June 15-17, June 29-July 1, July 13-15, and July 27-29.   • The 2004 Dixie Boys Baseball World Series Golf Tournament will be held at Woodside Plantation Country Club at 12 p.m. on June 14. The event will be in the Captain's Choice format.   • The Aiken Lion's Club will hold its 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Houndslake Country Club June 10, with tee times at 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Entries must be received by June 7.   • The Optimist Club on Zone 16 will hold a junior golf tournament June 7 at Forest Hills Golf Course. Boys and girls, ages 10-18, who are residents of Burke, Columbia, McDuffie, and Richmond Counties are invited to participate. Entry forms are available at local golf courses and golf shops. Top boy and girl finishers in each age group will advance to the Georgia District Tournament at the Dogwood Golf and Country Club in Austell, Ga. on June 14.
  • Hephzibah High School will host their Fifth Annual Pigskin Classic at Applewood Golf Course June 5 at 9 a.m. Cost will be $55 per person with lunch provided.   • Gymnastics

  • Gymnastics classes will be offered at the H.O. Weeks center for beginner and intermediate gymnasts on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. The class is for boys and girls ages 4-12. Cost is $30 per month, with an additional fee charged to those who live outside of the Aiken city limits. For more information, call 642-7631.
  • Hockey

  • The Augusta Ice Hockey Association Adult League Summer Season will begin the June 7 and will run for 13 weeks. Registration is due May 28. For more information, call the Augusta Ice Sports Center at (706) 863-0061 between 12-8 p.m.

  • Miscellaneous

  • USC Aiken will be hosting an All -Sports Camp June 7-11 and July 5-9 for boys and girls ages 6-14. The camp is designed to expose campers to a number of different sports including basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, swimming, rollerblading, and relays. Campers will be divided by age groups but will have the option of being placing into groups with their friends. Cost is $150 and includes t-shirt, daily lunch, insurance, instruction/supervision and a camp gift. Camp hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.   • Rowing

  • USRowing will sponsor a National Learn to Row Day from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., June 12 for anyone ages 14 and over. Participants will receive a one day course in rowing on the Savannah River and will be invited to participate in a 15-18 mile bike ride with an organized bike group. Participants will meet at the boathouse on the Savannah River and should bring tight fitting workout clothes and water to drink, and their own bikes and bike helmets for the bike ride. Participants must be able to swim and waivers must be turned in. Lunch will be provided at 1 p.m. by the Macaroni Grill. Registration must be turned in by May 28. Cost is $25.   • Rugby

  • The Augusta Rugby Club is putting together an age 14-19 rugby team. Free youth rugby clinics and practices will begin May 11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Richmond Academy.   • Tennis

  • The H.O. Weeks Tennis Center is offering tennis lessons for children and adults of all skill levels. The Tennis Center offers group lessons, private lessons, leagues, and tournaments for various skill levels. For more information, to register for a clinic, or to reserve a court, call 642-7739.
  • The Petersburg Racquet Club will be offering free tennis lessons May 13, 15, 20, and 22. The lessons are designed for beginners or persons who have not played in a long time. Adult lessons are scheduled for May 13 and 20 from 7-8:30 p.m. and May 15 and 22 from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Juniors, 18 and under, are scheduled for may 15 and 22 from 9 until 10:15 a.m. The program is part of the Play Tennis Augusta Program, and membership in the Petersburg Racquet Club is not required.
