Mrs. Marlene Kahal (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga.- Marlene Sherr Kahal, age 50, beloved wife of Edward J. Kahal entered into rest on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at University Hospital. She was a native of Atlanta, Ga., and the daughter of Anita Sherr and Julius Sherr. She attended Emory at Oxford and graduated from Knox College. As a teenager, she was a finalist in The National Bible Contest. Her greatest joy in life in addition to her children was teaching Sunday and Hebrew school at Adas Yeshurun Synagogue and Congregation Children of Israel. She took special pleasure in preparing students for their B'nai Mizvah. She previously worked for Robinson Humphrey and Wachovia Bank in Atlanta. In addition to her synagogue activity, she was past president of The Westside High School PTO and was a volunteer at University Hospital. Additional survivors include two daughters, Nora Kahal and Erin Kahal, both of Augusta and one sister, Jody Sherr, Atlanta. If so desired, donations may be made to Kahal Childre n's Scholarship Fund at the Augusta Jewish Federation, Adas Yeshurun Synagogue or The American Cancer Society.
