Mrs. Elsie Dawkins (STATESBORO, Ga.)



STATESBORO, Ga.- Mrs. Elsie Jackson Wade Dawkins, age 90, wife of Arthur John Dawkins, Jr. entered into rest Thursday, May 13, 2004 in Kenner, La. A native of Monroe, County, Ga., she was the daughter of John Madison Jackson and Mabel Pattillo Jackson. She was a long time resident of Baxley, Ga. and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as organist for many years. She was also a sixth grade elementary teacher at Baxley Elementary School until her retirement. Since 1973, she and her husband have made their home in Boutte, La. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. John Lauren Jackson and a sister, Thelma Jackson Adams both of Statesboro. Surviving are her husband, John; one son, Harry W. Wade and wife, Sandra Hart Wade; granddaughters, Melanie Wade Larsen (Tom) and Catherine Wade Wahl (Phil), and great-granddaughters, Olivia Hart Wahl and India Elizabeth Wahl, all of Augusta, Ga. She is also survived by one brother, Dr. Hiram Madison J ackson and wife Nell of Milledgeville, Ga. Nieces and nephews surviving are John M. Jackson, Waynesboro, Ga., Bobbie Ann Jackson and Edwina Morris, Statesboro, Ga., Robert Paul, St. Louis, Mo., Jack Paul, Arlington, Va., Alice Stratton, New York, N.Y., Walker Jackson, Auburn, Ala., Kathleen Martin, Milledgeville, Ga., and Lauren Gould, Charlotte, N.C. Additional survivors are Johnny M. Dawkins and Deborah Dawkins of Columbia, S.C. and Jackie Dawkins Gary of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 17, 2004 at 11 a.m., at Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro with Rev. Ricky Allen officiating. Pallbearers will be John M. Jackson, Tom Larsen, Phil Wahl, David Miles, Johnny Dawkins, and Ronnie Dawkins. If so desired, memorials may be made to the charitable organization of your choice.
