POLL POSITION: Brandon Moss' hot bat has the Augusta outfielder featured as an answer choice for a poll on Minor League Baseball's Web site.

The question asks "Who will have the highest batting average in the Minors this year?" The choices are Moss, Oklahoma RedHawk Chad Allen from the Pacific Coast League, Clinton LumberJack Ian Kinsler of the Midwest League, Sarasota Red Sox Jeremy West of the Florida State League or someone else.

Moss leads the SAL with his .400 average through Friday. Allen is batting .411, Kinsler is batting .395 and West is hitting .363. Someone else is leading the poll with 407 responses, while West leads the players with 134 votes. Allen is third at 77, Moss fourth with 66 and Kinsler is last with 53.

Moss leads the GreenJackets with 24 RBI, a .554 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage.

MOVING UP: Augusta has added two players to its roster in the past week, and both factored into the GreenJackets' 13-inning win Friday.

Outfielder Ian Cronkhite ended the game in the 13th with a bases-loaded single that scored Kevin Jordan. Left-handed reliever Cory Willey threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out two.

Through Friday's game, Cronkhite was batting .400 with four hits and two RBI. Willey's performance lowered his ERA from 13.50 to 7.71.

IN OTHER LEAGUES: In Sevierville, Tenn., St. Louis Cardinals farmhand Brad Thompson kept one impressive streak going Friday night. Thompson has not allowed a run in 43q innings this season, tying a Southern League record.

The 22-year-old will now try for the minor league record of 56 consecutive scoreless innings. Thompson is 6-0 this season. When combined with the end of last season in A ball, Thompson has thrown 52 straight scoreless innings.
