Mr. Eddie Beckett (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mr. Clair Edward Beckett entered into rest Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Doctor's Hospital. Mr. Beckett is the husband of Mrs. Martha E. Beckett of Augusta. Mr. Beckett a native of West Virginia, came to Augusta area after serving 3 and a half years in World War II. He began his 54 year career, as a meat cutter, at the Colonial store 9th and Greene Street in Augusta, on December 14, 1947. He worked with the Colonial Stores and Big Star stores until coming to Jerry's Supermarket in Hephzibah in 1982. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2004 at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, Hephzibah with Rev. Randall Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery. Surviving Mr. Beckett is daughter, Brenda Heffner of Augusta; brothers, Wesley Beckett, William Beckett, James Beckett, Dempsey Beckett and sister Joanne Beckett all of Crab Orchard, W. Va. Also survived by step children, Debra Eastmead, Augusta and Steadman Crawford, Laurel, Md.; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday evenings, May 15th and 16th 2004 at the funeral home chapel.
