I JUST WANTED to say what a terrific job The Chronicle did on the coverage of the Kentucky Derby. I loved the full-page spread on the horses, the trainers and little blurbs and pictures of each horse. I thought that was the best coverage I've ever seen. Y'all do a great job.
CONCERNING GEORGE Kolb: During my years in school, teachers asked us to read the paper and get articles out of it. Now, we wonder why our children are in such bad shape. It's because we give them such bad examples. I was appalled at how and what was said about George by the commissioners.
THIS IS A RANT about the contractors with their names and phone numbers on the side of their vehicles. You need to watch how you drive, who you flip off and things that you say. If your name and number's on the side of the truck, it makes it very easy for us to call and point fingers at you.
WHAT A WONDERFUL concert done by John Berry at the beautiful Imperial Theatre. Many thanks for such a moving performance by him and also to the staff of the theatre. Wow!
A RAVE FOR ALL the wonderful people who stopped by Five Pines on March 27 and participated in the benefit held for my husband, Sid Rodgers. Sid was injured in a motorcycle accident on Jan. 28. I want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you.
A RANT TO THE GUY in the black Jeep with a South Carolina tag speeding through the Goshen School zone on April 16. You know who you are! I got your tag number! Just to let you know, you are a jerk and you can keep your finger to yourself. There is never a policeman around when you need him. The county could make a fortune in speeding fines if they would just patrol that area a little more.
I'M AN AIKEN COUNTY teacher, and I would like to tell you that students did make up the three days we had off in January. Teachers made up those three days and had to make up 14 additional hours on after-school days.
