Mr. William Cox (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. William G. "Bill" Cox, 78, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 4, 2004. A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2004, at Platt's Belair Road Chapel. Mr. Cox was a native of Augusta and was an U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He was retired from Babcock &Wilcox. He was a member of the American Legion Jack C. Fortune Post 205; a Crew Member with Georgia Box Car Association, Voiture 719 of the 40 & 8, and VFW Post 649. Mr. Cox was a former member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed serving with the Red Cross as a Disaster Relief volunteer and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his sisters, the late Constance C. Hildebrandt and the late Imogene C. Clark. He is survived by the mother of his children, Cathryn T. Cox of Augusta; one son, W. Michael Cox and wife, Earleen of Martinez; two daughters, Melody Cox Young of Wilmington, N.C.; and Jeanne C. Aycox and husband, Mike of Martin ez; four grandchildren, Trevor T. Young, Amber C. Young, Amanda J. Aycox, David A. Aycox and several nieces and nephews. Honoraries will be the members of American Legion Jack C. Fortune Post 205. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home prior to the service from 1 p.m. until service time.
