Mr. Lawrence Wren (NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.)



NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.- William Lawrence Wren, age 67, of North Augusta, died peacefully, April 25, 2004 at University Hospital. He was a 1956 graduate of Richmond Academy where he was a member of the 1955 and 1956 State Champions in Baseball, where he was legendary for his running speed. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961 and 1963-1964 and was honorably discharged as a SP4. He retired from the Medical College of Georgia after having worked in Central Supply for 11 years. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid sports fan. Lawrence was very friendly, personable and well liked by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents; Floyd M. and Nellie B. Wren and brother of the late George Richard Wren and Betty Wren Hammond. Lawrence was very much loved and will be greatly missed and always remembered by his sisters, Dorothy W. Shopenn, Lubbock, Texas, Alice W. Anderson, Oshkosh, Wis.,, Ann W. Gray, Beech Island, S.C.; his brother, Marvin M. Wren, Palm City, Fla. along with eight nieces. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2004 from the graveside in Westview Cemetery with Reverend Frank Hyder, officiating.
