MSG Lewis Jones (SNELLVILLE, Ga.)



SNELLVILLE, Ga.- MSG Lewis B. Jones, United States Army retired, born January 19, 1921, in Breckinridge, Texas, died April 4, 2004. He graduated high school in Bradford, Pa. in 1937 and served in CCC Camp in Flagstaff, Ariz., from 1938-1939. MSG Jones married Patricia A. Crawford on February 21, 1942. He graduated from Toccoa Falls College in 1958. He served his country in the Army during WW II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring from Active military service on July 1, 1978 with 30 years of active federal service. He was a member of Military Order of Purple Heart Chapter 425, Augusta, Ga. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Patricia A. Jones and his son, Lewis Jones and wife, Sue of Ridgeland, S.C.; his son, William Jones and wife, Diana of Snellville, Ga.; his daughter, Pat Estes and husband, Gary of Richmond Hills, Ga. and his adopted son, Vichai Jones and wife, Rusty of Hephzibah; his brother, Alvin Jones and wife, Claire, of Daphne , Ala.; his sister, Jean Faggard and husband, Noah of Coden, Ala.; along with seven grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. There will be a memorial service conducted by the Rev. Robert Thomas at The First Alliance Church, 2801 Ingleside Drive in Augusta, at 3 p.m., on May 16, 2004. Family requests no flowers, donations may be made to The Gideon's (for Bibles) or to The Great Commission Fund (to support missionaries). Tom M.
