Kudos to language arts teachers for the outstanding success of senior projects at the four Columbia County high schools where I participated as a judge. I have been a volunteer for the past two years and can proudly vouch for the growth of our seniors in terms of their learning stretch and poise in presentation.
It is my understanding that this program had its genesis at Greenbrier High School under the leadership of Carol Shrout. However, all the Language Arts teachers, as well as the chairperson of each high school, deserve congratulations for the wonderful work they do, not only with the presentations but also in the classrooms.
Further, all teachers in other subjects are preparing students for senior projects by incorporating training in research and presentation into their lesson plans.
Without a doubt, this is the most important learning experience for our seniors, and it is wonderful to see parental and community support for this project.
