Mr. George Sibley, Jr. (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mr. George Royal Sibley, Jr., 95, widower of Mrs. Marguerite Bothwell Burdell Sibley, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 20, 2004. He was preceded in death by Mrs. Winifred Kellogg Reid Sibley and Mrs. Sarah Sibley. Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Sibley Boardman and Margaret Sibley Dale and five grandchildren, Kathryn Sibley Boardman, Margaret Elizabeth Boardman Copenhaver, George Royal Sibley Dale, Winifred Sibley Dale Leow and Margaret Sarah Dale Williams and a devoted caregiver of thirteen years, Mrs. Juanita Henderson Powell. A native and life long resident of Augusta, Mr. Sibley attended Richmond Academy and The University of Georgia. He was a US Royal Tire Dealer and a private investor. He served on the Board of Directors of the Realty Savings Bank; First Railroad Banking Company; the Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust Company as well as many of its affiliated companies. He served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Tho roughbred Breeders Association, the CSRA Horse Show Circuit and raised race and show horses for many years. He was the owner of Cedar Grove Farm in Augusta. Mr. Sibley was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Treasurer, the Augusta Country Club and the Rotary Club. Funeral services will be held at Summerville Cemetery, Friday, April 23, 2004 at 11 a.m. with the Dr. Jeffery Newlin and the Rev. Dr. G. Daniel McCall officiating.
