LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Eight-time Pro Bowl guard Ruben Brown agreed Thursday to a three-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
The former Buffalo Bills standout could sign as early as Friday.
Brown would be the second major addition to Chicago's offensive line this season. The Bears earlier signed John Tait to a six-year, $33 million deal after luring the right tackle away from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brown was released last month by Buffalo in a salary-cap move. He had been excused from the Bills' season finale at New England, and the team has refused to say why.
Brown has maintained that it was for disciplinary reasons after he had a disagreement over offensive philosophy with former coach Gregg Williams.
