Mr. Lonas Green (NEW ELLENTON, S.C.)

NEW ELLENTON, S.C.-Funeral services for Mr. Lonas Green will be held Friday, April 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, S.C., with Pastor James A. Duncan and Pastor Bob Still officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens, Aiken, S.C. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Shane Gibson, Stan Lehman, Steven and Chip Vickers, David Kidd, Johnny Thomas, Brian and Chris Edwards, and Gregg Yazzie. Members of the Barachah Sunday School class of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 1, 2004 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Green, 82, of New Ellenton, S.C., husband of Mrs. Polly Byrd Green, died Tuesday, afternoon, March 30, 2004 at the Lake Crossing Health Center, Appling, Ga. Born in and a resident of Sylva, N.C., until relocating to Aiken County in 1951, he was a son of the late Theodore "Dolph" and Hanna Ensley Green. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church and retired from E. I. DuPont in 1984 after thirty-four years of service. In addition to his wife, daughters, Nancy Kidd, Aiken, S.C., Sharon Yazzie, North Augusta, S.C., and Jan Edwards, Roxboro, N.C.; step-son, Jim Geouge, Asheboro, N.C.; brother, Henry Green, Candler, N.C.; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, survive.
