Mrs. Margaret DeWitt (NORWAY, S.C.)

NORWAY, S.C.- Mrs. Margaret Dempsey DeWitt, 81, of Tylers Landing Road, Norway, died Friday morning, March 26, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Thompson Funeral Home chapel in Orangeburg. Rev. Chuck Wells will officiate. Interment will be in Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Appleton, Bengy DeWitt, Joe Poss, Shawn Murphy, Wayne DeWitt, Charles DeWitt. Mrs. DeWitt was born February 14, 1923, in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Hubert Curtis Dempsey and Lillie Mae Phillips. She was a member of Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church and the widow of Edwin Dewey DeWitt. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Lillian) Porter of Orangeburg-Norway and Mrs. Stewart (Kaye) Hawkins of Martinez; one son, Edwin DeWitt Jr. of Augusta; two sisters, Jean Godwin of Wuitman, Ga. and Betty Ruth Galyon of Knoxville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and one great-gre at grandson. Friends may call at the residence and Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
