Ms. Carol Farthing (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga.- Entered into rest Thursday, February 26, 2004 in Columbia County, Ms. Carol S. Farthing of Martinez. A native of Jesup, Ga., Ms. Farthing had lived in Augusta for the past 20 years. She was the property manager at Washington Road Self Storage, a volunteer for St. Joseph Hospice, a member of the Self Storage Association and a certified Dental Technician. Ms. Farthing was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 29, 2004 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Jack Custer officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son. Carol was an outgoing person who never met a stranger. She was an avid lighthouse lover and a diligent worker, always rising above and beyond the call of duty. Loved by everyone she knew, her captivating smile will be missed by all. Family members include a daughter, Angel Corley of Martinez, a son Charles Gravitt and his wife, Melissa of Augusta, grandson, Dalton Corley, her mother, Evelyn M. Brown of Augusta, three brothers, Frank Thornton of Tallahassee, FL, Mike Swilley and Eric Swilley, both of Jesup, Ga., three sisters, Amy Thornton of Jesup, Ga., Sam Winkler of Waynesboro, and Sherry Swilley of Tennessee, and her step-mother, Doris Thornton, also of Jesup.
