Mr. Manuel Pantoja (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga.- Entered into rest February 25, 2004, at the residence, Mr. Manuel "Chief" Pantoja, age 81, husband of the late Mrs. Boyce Howard Pantoja, mother of his children. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 29, 2004 , at 2 p.m., in the Thomas L. King Funeral Home chapel, with Father Lou Scales officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m., until the time of service. Mr. Pantoja was born in Floresville, Texas. He served with honor in the U.S. Army during WW II and was a member of The Paralyzed Veterans Association. Mr. Pantoja was known by many names, Tojo, Chief, Grandada, but no matter what name you knew him , the mere fact of your relationship with him insured you that he would have a lasting happy impact on your life. Sometimes known as Manny he had a love of children, family, flirting with the girls, but more than anything he had a special relationship with his an imals who were his pride and joy. He would like to be remembered by his infectious smile and happy ways. He worked as a brick mason for most of his life, but as he grew older he worked at being a loving father, grandfather and caretaker for his animals and any stray. A native of San Antonio, Texas, after retiring from the service, he married and made his home Augusta. He is survived by five children, Linda and husband, Joshua Suarez of Augusta, Manuel D. and wife, Electa Pantoja of Augusta, James Michael Pantoja of Augusta, Johnathan D. and wife, Jeannie Pantoja of Hephzibah, Kathy and husband, Barry Tabor of Appling; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; extended family including brothers and sisters in Texas.
