People planning to attend today's public forum in which two Democrat candidates for U.S. president will speak should be inside Tabernacle Baptist Church on Laney-Walker Boulevard by 9 a.m., the event's organizer said Friday.
The Rev. Al Sharpton will speak at 9:30 a.m., followed by North Carolina Sen. John Edwards at 10 a.m., said state Rep. Tyrone Brooks, D-Atlanta, who organized the political event.
The two were supposed to speak at a lunchtime forum, but will instead talk in the morning so they can then travel to New York for an afternoon debate.
After the presidential candidates speak, a 12th Congressional District forum will begin with Democrat candidates John Barrow, of Athens, Caine Cortellino, of Savannah, and Doug Haines, of Athens, scheduled to speak. Republican incumbent Max Burns has another engagement and will not attend, Mr. Brooks said.
The forum is held in conjunction with the annual Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials' winter meeting, being held in Augusta this weekend.
