Mr. Chester Williams, Sr. (AUGUSTA, S.C.)



AUGUSTA, S.C.- Mr. Chester James Williams, Sr., 79, loving husband of Vera Lazenby Williams, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at University Hospital. Other survivors include his son, Chester Williams, Jr. of Hephzibah; step-children, W.B. Couch of Wilmington, N.C., Jerry Couch of Leesburg, Ga., Cherry Sue Fuller of Keysville and David Spears of Augusta; nephew, Gene Harden of Maxeya, Ga.; niece, Donna Camp of Kennesaw; Crawford Smith of Cartersville; cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard of Augusta. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Wheeler Road with Pastor Dale Tunnell officiating. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro. Mr. Williams was born in Avera, Ga. to the late Bartow and Betsy Hobbs Williams. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of the International Operating Engineers Local 474, American Legion Post 283 of Jacksonvil le, Fla. and he had also worked for Avis Rental Car.
