Standing ovations


The annual NAACP Martin Luther King parade starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dyess Park Community Center, 907 James Brown Blvd. The parade proceeds south on James Brown Boulevard, then turns north onto Augusta Avenue, east on Laney-Walker Boulevard, then onto James Brown Boulevard and ends at the park.


Anne Hebebrand, a former director at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, will present an exhibition of abstract oil paintings at the institute, 506 Telfair St. The exhibition opens Tuesday. Ms. Hebebrand was the director from 1985 to 1988. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. For more information, call 722-5495.
