Trucking company will hold job fair

Trucking company Schneider National Inc. will have a job fair in Augusta on Wednesday at the Georgia Department of Labor's Augusta Career Center. The Green Bay, Wis.-based company said it plans to hire 400 new drivers in Georgia.

The job fair will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the career center, 601 Greene St. Schneider representatives will be available all day to answer questions. No previous trucking experience is necessary to apply, the company said, adding that inexperienced drivers can earn $32,500-$36,500 during their first year.

Station to change to Christian music

Beasley Broadcast Group Inc. on Monday announced a format change for WAJY-FM (102.7), from nostalgia/oldies to contemporary Christian music. The Aiken station will feature leading Christian artists such as Mercy Me, Avalon and Third Day, Beasley said.

Coni Sansom, the vice president and general manager, said Christian music is one of the fastest-growing genres and "has been previously under-served" in the Augusta market.

Morris will publish monorail magazine

Augusta-based Morris Communications Co. on Monday announced that its visitor publication division has been awarded exclusive publishing rights for Las Vegas Monorail Magazine, the official publication of the Las Vegas Monorail system.

Morris already publishes that city's Best Read Las Vegas Guide and Nevada Hospitality magazine. The monorail connects eight major Las Vegas resorts with more than 24,000 hotels rooms. Morris' newspaper division publishes The Augusta Chronicle.

Companies donate $8,339 to research

Augusta Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and Augusta-Aiken area Bi-Lo stores on Monday donated $8,339 to breast cancer research at the Medical College of Georgia.

The check, presented in the office of Dr. Daniel Albo, the Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Clinician and Scientist, included dollars raised as part of a promotional package for the LPGA Tour's Asahi Ryokuken International Championship and a separate Bi-Lo charity golf tournament.
