On the fringe

The other day in an Iowa debate it became clear why U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, is only a fringe candidate in his bid to be president. The man who bankrupted Cleveland when he was that city's mayor is, quite simply, not the brightest bulb in the closet.

Candidates were discussing federal spending when Kucinich hauled out a pie chart to demonstrate his belief that the defense budget is too full of waste and fat.

The problem was, the debate wasn't on TV - it was on National Public Radio.

Duh!

"Congressman Kucinich is holding up a pie chart, which is not truly effective on radio," the NPR moderator patiently explained to listeners. Which explains why the congressman would not make an effective president either.
