Seniors calendar



The Seniors Calendar lists activities and groups of interest to senior citizens. Please call the service agencies for information. UNIVERSITY SENIORS CLUB

Sponsored by University Health Care System. Note: Reservations are required for events; 738-2580 or (800) 413-6652 to register and for times of events; membership ($10, includes prescription discount) required.

SENIORADVANTAGE

For people 50 or older; offers bingo, canasta, bunco, and health and educational programs at St. Joseph Hospital; $5 membership fee per year, discounts available; registration required; 481-7232.

BERNIE WARD COMMUNITY CENTER

SITERCISE CLASSES: For age 55 and older; 10 to 10:45 a.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays $20 a month, $2 a visit; 790-0588.

SENIOR MOMENTS: For age 55 and older; covered-dish luncheons, pancake breakfasts and more; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays; $2 per meeting; 790-0588.

SENIOR FRIENDS

Most activities are at Doctors Hospital, Medical Office Building No. 3, 1305 Interstate Parkway; chair exercise, bridge, pinochle, canasta and health and educational programs; $15 a year, open to anyone age 50 or older; reservations required; 651-6716.

ORIENTATION BREAKFAST: 10 a.m. second Tuesdays; reservations requested.

COMPANION PHONE SYSTEM: Emergency phone system available to members; two-way phone $32.95 a month, one-way phone $27.95 a month; no installation fee.

EXERCISE CLASSES: 8:45-9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays; free; for members only.

SQUARE DANCE LESSONS: 7 p.m. Thursdays; $40 a couple.

AMERITECH'S SECURITY LINK: Box to place by the phone or a small device to wear in case of emergency; members, $15; nonmembers, $25.

FREE CHAIR EXERCISE: 8:45 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

SHILOH CENTER

Activities for senior citizens offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at Shiloh Comprehensive Community Center, 1635 15th St.; minimal fee; 738-0089 www.shilohcenter.org.

NORTH AUGUSTA SENIOR CENTER

Age 60 or older, Fairview Presbyterian Church, 1101 Carolina Ave.; 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; sponsored by Aiken Area Council on Aging; (803) 279-6441 or (803) 648-5447.
