Kendrick powers Georgia women past Middle Tennessee

ATHENS, Ga. - Alexis Kendrick made five 3s and scored 21 points to lead 10th-ranked Georgia to a 65-50 victory Saturday night over Middle Tennessee State.

Kara Braxton added 13 points and seven rebounds for Georgia (6-1), which won despite 21 turnovers. Patrice Holmes led Middle Tennessee (4-2) with 18 points.

Holmes hit one of her four 3s midway through the first half, and the Raiders led 16-12. But Braxton connected on three baskets inside, and Kendrick punctuated the six minutes of dominance with a pair of 3-pointers bracketed around a layup.

Georgia's 21-2 first-half run made it easy for the Lady Bulldogs. They led 33-18 with 6:39 remaining in the half after a layup by freshman Janese Hardrick, who had 11 points.

Keisha McClinic's 3-pointer with 9:06 to play in the game cut the margin to 56-44, but that was as close as Middle Tennessee could get.
