Mr. Dorris Goodson (WADLEY, Ga.)



WADLEY, Ga.- Mr. Dorris Millard Goodson, age 87, of Wadley, died Friday evening at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville, Ga. Mr. Goodson, a native of Jefferson County, was a retired farmer and had served as Mayor of the City of Wadley. He was a member of the Wadley First Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher. He also served in the United States Army during WW II, serving with the Calvary. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Reverend Tom Harrison and Reverend David Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadley Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity, in memory of Mr. Dorris Millard Goodson. Pallbearers include Ollie Carter, Benjy Leaptrot, Bobby Brett, Herman Baker, Charles Smith, and Randy Rowland. Honorary pallbearers include Pete Henderson, Eugene Carswell, and Billy Arrington. He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Brown, of Palm Coast, Fla.; three sons, Frank Goodson, of Simpsonville, S.C., Joe Goodson, of Wadley, and Tim Goodson, of Wadley; four grandchildren, Matthew Lockwood, Kelley Lockwood, Heather Kobus, and Melissa Goodson; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Carlton of Atlanta. The family will receive friends Sunday evening between the hours of 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Smith Funeral Home of Wadley, is in charge of arrangements.
