Mrs. Catherine Norton (SARDIS, Ga.)



SARDIS, Ga.- Mrs. Cora Catherine (Perry) Norton, 84, of Sardis, entered into rest Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at Keysville Nursing Covalescents Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning November 29, 2003 at Sardis Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Dr. Bill King officiating. Mrs. Norton will lie in state one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery. Mrs. Norton was a native of Sardis, where she graduated from Sardis High School and the daughter of the late George Perry and Cora Long. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BS degree in Home Economics. Mrs. Norton was retired from the Georgia Agricultural Extension services as a Home Economist in Hazelhurst and Cuthbert, Ga. Mrs. Norton was an active member and teacher of Home Makers Sunday School Class of Sardis Baptist Church which she had a great love and appreciation for, and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Norton is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Norton and stepson, Jimmy Norton, brothers, George E. Perry, Charles E. Perry, and sister, Bernice Davis. Survivors include stepsons, Howard (Lucille) Norton of Waynesboro, Ga., Gary (Gloria) Norton of Savannah; brothers, Paul H. (Doris) Perry of Claxton, Ga. and William R. (Fran) Perry of Columbia, S.C.; step-grandson, Jeremy Norton. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, 842 Liberty St., Waynesboro, Ga. Pallbearers will be nephews, Billy Perry, Bert Sorin, Ryan Cummins, and Jordan Patrick, step-grandson, Jeremy Norton and friend, Mike Chandler.
