Mrs. Dorothy Pate (LAWRENCE, Kan.)

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Graveside inurnment services for Dorothy Young Pate, 84, of Lawrence, Kan. will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Westover Cemetery in Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Pate had died Monday, September 29, 2003 at her home in Lawrence. Mrs. Pate had been a Lawrence resident since 1999. Previously, she had been a resident of Augusta, Ga. for 70 years, where she was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. She was born January 8, 1919 in Wrens, Ga., the daughter of John A. and Martha Louise (McGahee) Young. She married Rupert E. Pate, Sr. on January 1, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1969. Mrs. Pate dedicated her life to being a mother and housewife. She is survived by two sons, R.E. and Hugh Pate, both of Lawrence; one daughter, Bernice Pate of Leavenworth; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice (Young) and Robert Van Arsdale of Wrens, Ga.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Care of Douglas County and may be sent in care of Warren- McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
