Mr. Steve Matthews (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Steve Matthews, age 61, entered into rest on Sunday afternoon, November 23, 2003 at Sheppard Care Home, Waynesboro. A native of Millen, he had been a lifelong resident of the Augusta area. Mr. Matthews had worked at Clearwater Finishing Plant in the Print Shop before retiring after 28 years. Mr. Matthews will be remembered as a caring, good natured and hard working employee who was committed not only to his employer but to his family and those that he cared for. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert S. Matthews and Jewell Grace Williams Matthews; one son, Hans Allen Matthews, who passed away in 2001; and one daughter, Beverly Jewell Grace Matthews, who passed away in 1989. He is survived by three sons, Steve Matthews III, and his wife, Leesa, Martinez, Michael Keith Matthews, Gibson, Robert LeMorne Matthews, Augusta; two grandchildren, Dawn Renee Matthews, Stevie Matthews; and two great-grandchildren, Arianna "Jewel" Matthews, and Aubree Jean Matthews; sisters, Diane Clayton, Schaumburg, Ill, Connie Brunkhart, Spring Hill, Fla., Heidi Harmon, Mascotte, Fla., Hope Harmon, Mascotte, Fla.; and brothers, Fred Matthews, Ellicott City, Maryland, Robert Matthews, Tampa, Fla., Donnie Matthews, Spring Hill, Fla. and Johnny Harmon, Florida. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2003, from the graveside in Lincolnton City Cemetery with Rev. Matt Judd officiating.
