Mr. Morris Truitt (WASHINGTON, Ga.)



WASHINGTON, Ga. - Mr. Morris Smith Truitt, 67, of Metasville Road, died Sunday at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mr. Truitt was a native of Wilkes County and lived here all of his life. He was a service station manager for a number of years and worked at Poss Ace Hardware up until his death. He was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club, and had been a school bus driver for 29 years. He was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Edwards and Rev. Stephen Rayner officiating. Interment will follow at the Savannah Valley Memorial Garden in Thomson. Active pallbearers will be Paul Wheatley, Greg Wheatley, Jason Wheatley, Jerome Morgan, George Morgan and Jeremy Wheatley. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Wheatley, Perry Morgan, Bill Smith, Tommy Garrett, Nathan Zellars and Donald Wheatley. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Waller Truitt of the home; one son, Mark Truitt, of Washington; four sisters, Lucy Wallace, Elberton, Peggy Stewart of Warrenton, Nancy Powell of Tignall and Terri Williamson of Gainesville; four brothers, Jabe Truitt of Lothian, Md., W.F. Truitt of Albany, Bobby Gene Truitt of Augusta and Mack Truitt of Lincolnton; and two grandchildren, Jordan and Jarrett Truitt. Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home.
