AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ernest Lee Holt, 96, formerly of Chaste Tree Lane, entered into rest on November 22, 2003. Mr. Holt was retired vice president and general manager of Atlantic Mill in Macon. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriners (Al Sihah Shrine Temple in Macon). He was a member of Martinez Baptist Church. Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mattie (Campbell) Holt; a son, Donald Eugene Holt; and his daughter, Barbara (Holt) Williams. Survivors include his wife, Evelyne (Peacock) Holt; two sons, William C. (and Beth) Holt of Augusta, Dale E. (and Lucy) Holt of Watkinsville; five grandsons, Edward L. Williams III (and Debbie), Macon, Ernest Holt Williams, Juliette, Nathan D. Holt (and Chandra) of Athens, Russell William (and Kelly) Holt and Bradley W. (and Terri) Holt of Watkinsville; four great-grandchildren, Alison Q. Williams and Edward L. Williams IV, both of Macon and Margaret Holt and William Holt, Jr. of Watkinsville. Interment will be private and there will be a memorial service, to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association. No visitation at the funeral home.
