Mr. Edward Powell (SWAINSBORO, Ga.)



SWAINSBORO, Ga. - Peebles- Curry-Durden Mortuary announces the death of Mr. Edward Troy Powell, age 78, of Swainsboro, on Sunday, November 23, 2003 at the Emanuel County Nursing Home in Swainsboro after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro with Rev. Wayne Defore officiating. Interment will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Daley Powell, Lynn Keyton, Bill Carmichael, Tyson Stephens, Sonny Stephens, Harry Martin, Jack Powell and Gene Ragsdale. Honorary pallbearers are Sid Shepherd, Bill Rountree, James Brown, Charles Drake, R.H. Skinner, Ralph Foskey, Jim Curry, Ed Patrick, Raymond Riner, Don Farrow, Louie Dryden, J.T. Kight and Eddie Andrews. The family will receive friends at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary on Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Mr. Powell was a native of Johnson County and was a retired car salesman after 45 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro. He was son of the late Gaston L. and Nancy Ola Powell. Survivors include his wife, Geneva A. Powell of Swainsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jay Lawson of Swainsboro; one sister, Hazel M. Brice of Oxford; two brothers, Clark Powell of Wrightsville and Lamar Powell of Evans; grandson, Jason Lawson of Watkinsville; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Andi and Grey McKeever of Jacksonville, Fla.
